The coastal town of Porto Cristo - in German the "Christushafen" - is located on the east coast of Mallorca in the Llevant region. The distance to the island's capital Palma is 63 kilometers. The area of today's Porto Christo was already settled by the Talaiotes - the natives of Mallorca. Porto Cristo was originally the port of the city of Manacor, which has been one of the most important trading centers on the sunny island since the Middle Ages. Today the coastal town is dominated by tourists, but there is no sign of mass tourism in other island regions in and around Porto Cristo.
