Inca is the third largest town in Mallorca with approximately 29,000 inhabitants. Dating back to Roman times, Inca owes its original importance to its privileged setting on the confluence of principal valleys leading from the western mountains towards the island`s fertile central plains, and also to its lying halfway on the old road from Palma to the northern port of Alcudia.

Nicknamed as the "Leather Town" hence its thriving leather industry and factories producing good quality leather goods including some well known shoe makers such as Camper, Farrutx or Lotusse. Inca's Thursday market is one of the largest on the island with stalls selling fruit, flowers, local crafts, clothes and household goods. Inca is also known for its restaurants, old wine cellars turned into restaurants featuring traditional Majorcan dishes at reasonable prices.

It is a town with a long history and there are a number of buildings that are well worth visiting. If you are energetic you can climb the hill to the Sanctuary of Santa Magdalena which was founded in the thirteenth century and was restored at the end of the last century. The visitor is rewarded by wonderful panoramic views.

Inca's annual highlight is the Dijous Bo, which translates as Good Thursday, takes place the second Thursday of November. It is by far the biggest event on Mallorca at this time of year and attracts approximately 150,000 people. The Dijous Bo is vibrant combination of cultural celebrations, exhibitions, markets and sporting events. More recently the event celebrations have started on the evening before, colloquially known as Good Wednesday or Dimecres Bo, when the younger people of the town party through the night. At the peak of the fair you almost wonder where all the people have come from and whether there is anyone left in the rest of Mallorca. In addition to the events already mentioned there were animal displays, which stems from the origins of the fair as a cattle market. Food was also a key feature and for anyone who was looking to try out some Mallorcan delicacies this was the perfect opportunity. Almost every delicacy was available from traditional meats, fruit, fresh baked bread and traditional dishes.

Inca holidays are ideal for those who wish to combine sightseeing with walking or cycling in the countryside as well as occasional trips to the sandy beaches of the north east or the south coast. Inca is linked to Palma by a railway line.
